THE BODHI STORY
Built on Bread, Grown by Community
What started as a single artisan bakery in Corvallis has grown into a family of locally owned eateries serving the Willamette Valley, all rooted in the same idea: good bread, good ingredients, and food made with care.
Founder & Chef
Cody Utzman
Cody grew up in Corvallis, trained in culinary arts at Linn-Benton Community College, and spent years building a life in food before returning home to Oregon.
His path has included restaurants, travel, national cooking competitions, fatherhood, and a long-running belief that good food should feel honest, generous, and connected to place.
As a chef and founder, Cody is drawn to the creative process of handmade food, local ingredients, building businesses, building community, and the details that make something memorable.
Cody is a dedicated father, a lifelong traveler, and the owner behind the Bodhi Group: a growing family of cafes, bakery spaces, farmers markets, and gathering places across Oregon.
What We Stand For
Slow Food, Done Right
We believe good food takes time. Our bakery works with long-fermented doughs, early mornings, and a steady rhythm that shows up in the bread, pastry, and food we serve.
Oregon Ingredients
We use local and regional ingredients whenever we can: good eggs, seasonal produce, Oregon-grown products, and trusted vendors we've worked with for years.
Chef-Owned
Bodhi is chef-owned and food-led. Our menus are built by people who cook, bake, taste, adjust, and care about the details.
Community Rooted
We are part of the places we serve: downtown cafés, farmers markets, neighborhood regulars, students, families, and people who have made Bodhi part of their daily routine.
A Bodhi Timeline
Bodhi begins at its first farmers market, bringing bread, pastry, and handmade food directly to the community.
Bodhi Cafe opens in Corvallis, growing the farmers market beginning into a daily cafe built around coffee, breakfast, lunch, bread, pastry, and chef-driven food.
Bodhi Bistro opens on the Corvallis waterfront, adding a more elevated restaurant space with breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, and live music.
Cody Utzman is honored as Entrepreneur of the Year by Celebrate Corvallis, and Bodhi is recognized as Large Business of the Year.
Bodhi expands to downtown Albany with a cafe and bakery location serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, pastry, and Bodhi favorites.
Bodhi Cafe & Bakery prepares to open in downtown Eugene at 810 Willamette Street, bringing the next chapter of Bodhi to Lane County.
